New Delhi: The ICC has announced the Player of the Month award for the month of June. In which India dominates in both men’s and women’s awards. This is the first time in history that a male and female cricketer from the same country have been selected for the ICC Player of the Month award together. The ICC has selected Jasprit Bumrah as the Player of the Month for the month of June. While in women’s cricket, this honor was given to Smriti Mandhana. Bumrah has been rewarded for his brilliant performance for India in the T20 World Cup 2024.

This is a historic moment for the country, because for the first time players from the same country have been selected in the men’s and women’s category. Bumrah won this award (ICC Player of the Month) by defeating Team India captain Rohit Sharma and Afghanistan’s wicketkeeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. While Mandhana won the award by defeating England’s Maia Bouchier and Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne.
Team India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah won his first ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award. Bumrah performed brilliantly in India’s title-winning T20 World Cup campaign in the USA and West Indies. He was awarded the Player of the Tournament for taking 15 wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 4.17. On the other hand, Indian women’s cricket team’s dashing batsman Mandhana has also won her first ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award. With her brilliant batting performance, she led India to victory in the ODI series against South Africa.
ICC Player of the Month: Bumrah expressed happiness
Reacting to winning his award, Bumrah said, “I am delighted to be named as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June. This is a special honor for me after some memorable weeks spent in the USA and West Indies. We had a lot to celebrate as a team, and I am delighted to add this personal honour to the list.”
Bumrah said, “The way we performed in the tournament and eventually lifted the trophy is incredibly special, and I will always carry those memories with me. I would like to congratulate our captains Rohit Sharma and Rahmanullah Gurbaz for their outstanding performances in the same period.”
Mandhana expressed happiness on being selected Player of the Month for the first time
Mandhana said, “I am very happy to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June. The team has performed brilliantly and I am happy to contribute to it. We won the ODI and Test series. Hopefully we will be able to continue our form and I will be able to contribute to winning more matches for India.”
